Dave's Heat #24 Part 1...
(7/7/05)
Well...my wrestling career may just be over.

I never say never but for now, wrestling has come to a complete halt. I wrestled Q-Ball this past weekend (July 2nd, 2005) at WSW's "Die 4 July" supercard. It was definitely one of my best matches of all time and a match I'm very proud of. This match had alot riding behind it let me tell ya.....I've have a back problem i've been keeping under wraps for quite some time and a week before the big match with Q, I damaged some nerves in my wrist and hand weight-lifting.....This match was also going to be the very LAST time I wrestle Brandon. We are sort of sick of wrestling each other so we made a mutual agreement never to wrestle each other again. Being the last bout, I knew I had to make this match special. I had to do things in the match I have never done, as well as things from the past people wanted to see done again. Nothing and Nobody was going to stop us from stealing that damn show.

Once I started wrestling full time for WSW, I started to get sharp pains in my back every so often during the following week I would wrestle. At first, they were minor, but by Spring Fever, they were getting to be very painful. I worked through them hoping they would just go away but you know that never happens. The month of June rolled around and I was the WSW West-Side Champion. My goal was to defend the title against quality opponents each week until Die 4 July but things changed. I ended up missing 3 consecutive WSW shows because of 2 family graduations and Kevin's Father's funeral. So my West-Side Title reign wasn't very good but on the good side of things, the time off from the ring really helped my back. With 3 weeks left until Die 4 July, I was ready to go to work. I wrestled Jewdas in a match dedicated to Tom Lacy, Kevin's Father. I chose Jewdas simply because from the first time I saw him wrestle, I knew he was great. I knew he had ability to have kick ass matches. I knew I would have to wrestle this guy some day. He is extremely modest about his wrestling ability but he is one of the few WSW wrestlers you would remember weeks later...if you saw one of the WSW shows. My match with Jewdas was awesome. He allowed me to reach back into the closet of Dave Van Dam's move list and bring a little bit of BCW to WSW with the dreaded Vertebreaker! I was open about the fact I thought my match was the best of the show. Lance had called me, talking about the show, later that week and told me he thought Lockjaw VS Mike Marquez was the best match. Lance has the right to his opinion as much as I do and I respect his. I do think Lockjaw and Mike had a fantastic match. I rated it 2nd best of the show. I just think my match with Jewdas was a tad-bit better. Lance actually told me to "take my head out of my ass" when I told him my opinion of the best match. Because we all know, as of the current day, Lance's opinion is all that matters.....

speaking of that, that is one of the reasons why I gave up my position on the WSW "board"...

Die 4 July rolls around the corner and myself, Andy, Kevin, and Brandon head out to Newman. It's 99 degrees in the stinky, hillbilly town and the show is an hour from bell time. When reviewing the shows card....(yes.....thats right...now that Lance wants full power again....the fucken SUPERCARD wasn't even set an hour before bell time! Lets keep in mind that I had written out the card 3 months in advance but Lance re-wrote less than a week before the show...and again an hour before the show. Lance actually had the nerve to try and tell me that my match (as General Punishment) facing against Andy might not happen! I had this match written out for 4 fucken months! Andy came from Davis just to wrestle this show. And Lance has the nerve to dare scrap the match as well as Timmy and Deathwish...just to add 2 new matches the day of the show from guys who decided to show up out of the blue. I'm sorry...I think you are great Ric Wylde, but showing up the day of the show... without a few weeks notice and getting a match, seems unfair to me when it causes someone else to lose their match that had been planned out for months. I could a write 10 pages on all this backstage bullshit but I don't feel like it at the moment. So lets just say Kevin and I had a lot on our minds for quite some time.

I ended up getting my match (as Gen. Punishment) with Andy, but DW and Timmy unfortunately got scrapped. I botched my landing on the final spot in my match with Andy and landed HARD (from the top rope) on my hip / pelvic bone. That was the start of the end for me.

I was in pain for the rest of show up until my match with Brandon. I had a lot to live up to. I up-talked this match for over a month. I told everybody how it would steal the show and be one of the best WSW matches they have seen. This was going to be a hard task now due to my agonizing hip. luckily, my back wasn't bothering me, and my wrist was heavily taped to avoid damaging my nerves even further. It was show time. After a botched spot in the beginning things weren't looking good at all but things quickly turned a 180. The fans grew louder, the moves got bigger, and the match became a classic. At the end of the night, Brandon was the West-Side Champion, and Dave was laying on the floor in the back with a tear in his eye. Yes, it hurt that bad. During the match, adrenaline was flowing, numbing the pain, but afterwards, I couldn't walk. The German Suplex started it from the other match, but the Hog-Handle suplexes, the top rope superplex, the Q-Bomb, the 2nd rope Q-Bomb, the flying elbow drop, and the 2nd rope detonator put the crack in my hip. According to X-Rays, I have a very tiny crack in my hip....Tiny enough that I don't need surgery but tiny enough to keep me away from ANY physical activity for 4+ months. I have crutches for excessive walking to relieve pressure off the hip and I'm not supposed to sit for more than 20 minutes at a time. So I can't even drive to WSW. I would have to lay down in the passenger seat or something cause, as of now, long car-rides are out of the equation. Brandon dislocated his shoulder in the match and, like a savage, put it back into place. However, he says he is done because this dislocation may lead to surgery now...since this isn't the first time it has happened to him. I feel sort of bad now because I pushed for so long to get the WS title on Q-Ball...but shit happens...The belt is mine so WSW can strip Q of the title and buy a new belt to represent the West-Side Championship.

One extra thing I would like to say about Die 4 July is that West Side Tangler is damn lucky I was not there to see what he did to Kevin. Tangler, I have always been cool with you but what you did to Kevin was immature, stupid, and just simply put, fucked up. I don't care what he said about Newman because it was under his gimmick! You need to stop fucking your mind up with drugs and realize how stupid you act sometimes....I'll tell you right now, straight up, what I think of Newman...no bullshit...I think it is a dirty, smelly, truck stop town in the middle of fucken nowhere. I don't have to sugar-coat anything about that sorry ass town. The only reason people move there is because it is cheap living and the only reason people don't move out, is because they wouldn't fit into a major metropolitan city. And you know damn well you wouldn't of slapped me if I was in Kevin's shoes because I would knock the last 3 teeth u have down your throat. Don't you ever fuck with one of my friends again....and an apology with a beer in your hand is NOT a sincere one.

I was in pain, but satisfied with the Die 4 July show. Afterwards, the majority of the roster approached me with concern and congrats which made me feel good. I couldn't drive back to San Jose in my condition so I gave Andy my keys. The trip back sucked since I had to put all my weight on my left cheek to avoid more pain. Injuries suck but this match was worth it to me. Besides, I feel lucky enough that I've been backyarding for 6 years and have never had an injury to take me away from wrestling...so I guess I could say I was due.

Dave's Heat 24 PART II

7/29/05

OK.....Before I begin, I would like to plug the "Past and Upcoming Events" link on the BCW Page ( http://bcw20010.tripod.com ) because I have archived results for nearly 20 BCW supercards and I spent over 10 hours doing so....So if anybody wants to check it out and leave some feedback or something, that would be great. It would make me feel like it was worth-while.

Things have cooled off in the backyard wrestling scene as of late. WSW seems to be slowly dying down like the UGWA did in summer of 2004. I havn't heard about anything special coming from the fed in Newman and their website even shows it. No updates, dead server, dead message board...the list can go on...I hope the Fall Festival event can boost the fed's moral up and jump start them back to how WSW used to be. I just don't see it happening though. However, if WSW's 2005 Fall Festival can pull off a show even half as good as last years Fall Festival, they will be just fine. However, Lance's jurassic mentality of ignoring the existance of the internet as a form of long distance communication will hold back the entire WSW company from progressing with storylines and making sure all the wrestlers are in check.

Kevin released "Vince's Verbage" not too long ago. In it, he explains in full detail his disgust with Lance and WSW during his last month or so with them. I must say that it is one of the most.. well though out, organized, concrete wrestling commentaries, I have ever had the privalege of reading. The thing that pissed me off though, was that it got no fucking attention! Practically NOBODY responded or even saw the damn thing! It was posted on the BCW site, the WSW Message Board, and Kevin's Myspace page! Yet nobody, except myself, Psyclown, and maybe one other...responded to it....I know A LOT of the guys agree with everything Kevin wrote in that paper....It's just sad that so many guys are pussies about taking sides because they are afraid of getting "heat".

Back to what I was saying about the backyard wrestling scene "cooling off"...The UGWA just recently lost the backyard they were wrestling in and currently have been put out of commission until a new yard is found. That sucks for them but in reality...they aren't really missing much..From what I've heard...most of their shows have only had 2 matches on them and very few wrestlers to show up..period. Maybe they could use a little break and get everyone straightened out...They could still just go wrestle back at the infamous Churchyard though....as long as they can call off some of the SJPD...

I won't be able to wrestle again until November. I can walk fine now...with no limp..but I need time to get 100%....TDO mentioned that I might be asked to be put into the WSW heavyweight title scene when I return. I would love to but I don't think I want to wrestle their full time anymore. The drive is a killer. I suprised I've driven that far every week this many times already. With school around the corner, I don't think I'll be up for the financial burden of gas and miles on my dying, old pathfinder. I would wrestle for WSW part time...and they could do whatever they wanted to do with me storyline-wise...but I'm about 95% sure I won't be going there on a weekly basis anymore.

With the extra time I've had this summer, I started back to working on some DVD's. I'm in the process of making a WSW entrance video DVD. Sideshow and Nervioso already have COMPLETE entrance videos and I continue to work hard on everyone elses... However, your video's length (before it loops) is completely dependant on how much footage I have of your character. If you have footage you want in your video, you'll have to give it to me sometime.

A big Thank You must go out to Robert Vien for finding my Black/White Trunks that I lost in the Motley's backyard 6 weeks ago...I Appreciate buddy...

The Garlic Festival is this Saturday in Gilroy and I can't fucken wait. I look forward to this event more than nearly anything and I going to go nuts....Garlic Bread, Garlic Fries, Garlic Pizza, Garlic Peanuts, Garlic Jelly, Garlic Ice-Cream, mmmmmmm, Deep Fried Alligator, Deep Fried Rattlesnake, Crawdads, Pepper-Steak Sandwiches.....Heaven

OK...that about does it for the 2nd part of Dave's Heat #24....

BTW...if anybody, BCW or WSW, wants to come over to watch SummerSlam on August 21st....let me know....I'm trying to have a cool WWE bash at my place.....everyone is welcome...just give me a heads up if you wanna make it.
