WSW Politics & Why I Left

July 1, 2005

Contradictions! Contradictions! Contradictions! That's all that I ever hear out of this guy. The day after his original call, Lance called me up to say that there was a board meeting and he wanted me to take part in it by phone. Now I admittedly immediately took a shot at the board, saying, "Oh you mean that board that doesn't relay any info to you at these meetings?" It sent him into another tirade about how nobody ever calls him so I told him that not everyone should have to call because almost everybody talks online. (I should have also mentioned the fact to him that whenever I have called Lance, he never picks up his fucking phone). He then spat off with his "the internet doesn't mean shit to me" campaign and said "I don't give a fuck what anyone says on the internet or what decisions are made on the internet. Everything has to go through me." I responded with, "Well about 75-85% of the talent uses the internet and it's how things have been getting done. It seems pretty obvious to me that these meetings just consist of you guys sitting around, smoking, and watching TV. Whether you use the internet or not, the fact remains that it is the most prominent medium that this fed has. (Another 'I don't give a fuck about the internet') So basically what you are saying is that by not caring about the internet, you don't care about the voice of 85% of WSW talent. Isn't that right?" His only response eluded my charge. "We wouldn't have this problem if people would call me so that decisions can be made." "But decisions ARE being made. It's your choice whether you want to be online," Vince replies. "We held a meeting before last week's show and you chose to sit out of it. The only two board members that were there were Dave and Zach." "So it's my fault for missing it because I went to go get sound equipment" "No, but it's your fault for standing outside for fifteen minutes after you got back while the meeting had been going on." "Well somebody should have gotten me then!" "I DID!" "Well Dave still needs to call me..." For the record though I didn't know it at the time, Dave had called Lance the night before and once again, Lance did not pick up.

Next came the big dilemma of the tag-title situation. In the conversation from the day before, Lance was adamant about Boogie & Blaze winning the tag titles and refused to listen to any idea that I had about Toxic & Hazard winning them instead, despite a vote amongst all of the talent in favor of the latter. Yes, a board vote is the deciding factor, but when the hell was the last time one of THOSE actually happened?? It sure just sounds to me like it's Lance's vote with himself and though it's about damn time he made decisions like a WSW President should, he's going overboard with it. In fact, I believe I actually said most of this to him on the phone, because his next comments were about how he's put more time, money, and effort into WSW than anyone else. I've told him many times before and this time again that I agree he's put the most money into the fed. But it's one man's word against another as to how much time and effort have been put into WSW compared to several of the other talent.

Suddenly he charges me with playing favoritism! WHAT!? He said that I was playing favorites against Blaze & Boogie! "That's why you don't want them to win the titles." I told him straight up, "Excuse me but, why SHOULDN'T Toxic & Hazard win the tag titles. It's not about playing favorites, those guys fucking deserve those belts and you can't say otherwise! They are our only TRUE team that looks like a team and acts like a team. They are good wrestlers who have been continually improving and give more than anyone in this fuckin' fed. You CANNOT tell me they shouldn't win." Lance contradicts himself by saying, "Yeah, those guys have given more to WSW than anyone else-" "Didn't you just say a minute ago that you've done everything for WSW? Now suddenly you're in agreement that Toxic & Hazard have and not you?" He had NOTHING to say. "Well why shouldn't Blaze & Boogie win the titles?" Lance mentioned how Blaze and Boogie both dropped the West Side Title because they were going to win the tag-titles. So not allowing them to win those belts screws them over because then they never should have lost the belt to begin with. Oh, so now I'm suddenly accountable for the decision JJ made to take the title off Blaze too? I said, "Blaze and Boogie should have won those titles back at Spring Fever. I felt they got screwed then because they had momentum going into the show. But now you want to give them the titles with no momentum whatsoever? You're basically going to throw the belts on them so they can lead a forgettable title reign that nobody will care about." Lance's shot at Dave: "Just like Dave's West Side Title reign that nobody cares about" "What are you talking about Lance? Dave & Q-Ball have had a program building up for two months! It's been one of the only storylines WITH a story!" "I didn't think it was right that Boogie got stripped of the West Side Title" Lance interrupted. "Dave has missed just as many shows as Boogie has, but you won't strip him. So you're playing favorites." Oh okay, I can see where this one is going, but Lance can't because it's Contradiction #2. In the Tuesday conversation, we had been discussing the Robert Vien situation, to which we both agreed that there was no problem with him missing time, even though he had the Heavyweight title. Lance stated, "The list of priorities should always go family, work, and then wrestling." Dave missed time due to his cousin's graduation (family), then was at his dad's for some family event (family), then was at my dad's funeral (family), and then returned to WSW. Wow, either Lance's priorities suddenly have changed or he holds a double-standard on Dave. Funny, but not really.

The conversation went back to the same sentence as earlier - "Why shouldn't Blaze & Boogie win the titles?" Again I said it was because they had no momentum. The storyline with them turning heel after Die for July would give their title run some meaning when they won in early August. Again, Lance brought up the Spring Fever situation and once more I said that they should have won them at the show, "but if you recall Lance, it was YOU who changed the plan at the last minute and YOU who kept the belts on Antwon & Lizard, even when I said that it made no sense for the champs to retain. Now it sounds like you're trying to accuse ME of not wanting them to win-" "But you don't want them to win-" "Don't interrupt me Lance. You're trying to blame me for them not winning the belts at Spring Fever. You wanted Antwon & Lizard to win when it made no sense and now you're trying to resolve the situation by letting Boogie & Blaze win now, even though that doesn't make sense either." I hate clichés but they work so wonderfully... two wrongs do not make a right. Lance's only response is, ";Well Boogie & Blaze need to go over in the match."

The whole thing about Lance believing that Toxic & Hazard contribute the most to the fed, but Boogie & Blaze deserving the titles more contradicts a thought process that he has. Lance's argument of Antwon winning the Heavyweight title because he puts a lot of time, money, and effort into WSW contradicts Toxic & Hazard not winning the tag titles despite the fact that it's the same reasoning. Therefore, Antwon winning based on that is ludicrous and needs to be thrown out as an idea, just as it would then be thrown out of the Toxic & Hazard situation. However, Toxic & Hazard still have talent and ring chemistry working on their side. What does Antwon have working on his side? It's not talent. All know it, but are afraid to admit it. So much shit is said behind Antwon's back about what a shitty worker he is, how dangerous he is, and how nobody wants to work a program with him. I'm high on the guy. He's a great heel and has a good look. He also continually asks how he can improve and is slowly coming around. However, still, nobody wants to work with him because he lacks skill, and yet somehow the guy still always has a belt to fall on anyway. (Ed. Note 7/13: In fact, now he has TWO.) That sounds like favoritism to me. So does Boogie & Blaze winning the tag-titles. The reason why I bring this up is for you all to keep in mind during the final, most aggravating portion of the phone conversation, and the reason that I'm going on hiatus from WSW following Die for July.

Everything about what Lance said about me in the past week is a god-damned lie and was one hell of a weak argument at that, but boy did it infuriate me. After the tag-title situation, I blamed Lance of being too stingy and closed-minded and he refuted by alleging that I supposedly don't listen to what the rest of the talent pool has to say. He said that I am the ones playing favorites with Q-Ball, Dave, Toxic, and Hazard. I told him that I do push those guys because they all deserve it and asked him to prove why those four didn't deserve pushes, but he just continually accused me of favoritism. I asked him who I supposedly kept down the whole time. He said Timmy, TDO, and Rattlesnake.

· Terrible Timmy - Amazing... He had the biggest storyline going into Spring Fever when he feuded with Dynamite Dave, thus also was given a longer amount of time to have his match. Week in and week out in the seven weeks before Spring Fever, he always had the most hyped-up match (which yes was a problem as the Solution/Vien match should've been pushed to a greater extent). Once his feud with Dave was over, he was going to have a very high-profile program with Assassin that would run for two months. It is not my fault that Assassin took an extended leave of absence from WSW. It's unfortunate as I was looking forward to that match more than any other on the Die for July rough card. So what happened? Timmy was put in a program with Deathwish. Why? Well I guess if I'm to be accused of not pushing Timmy, it is because he's ALREADY pushed. Putting him in the program with Deathwish, the way it has been set up, gives a push to Deathwish. Isn't it funny (no) that just last month, Lance was saying that Deathwish needed a push? Dave gave him one, but I get blamed for not pushing Timmy suddenly. So what am I supposed to do? Put Timmy in 9 different programs? You can only do so much with one guy, despite the fact that in old WSW days, Antwon and Rick Wylde were involved in every segment of every show, but I digress. The only way that Timmy can get pushed is by putting him in the Heavyweight title situation because he is so high up already. However, no of course we can't do that, because then that will hurt Sven's title push. Furthermore, Lance scraps Timmy's match with Deathwish, a match being built for a few weeks. Yet somehow I can be blamed for trying to drown the character...

· TDO - Lance said that the only reason why TDO doesn't get pushed is because of my "vendetta" against him. Uhh, since when did I have a vendetta? Do Danny and I get along? No, because the guy refused to put it behind him when I told him to let bygones be bygones. But you see, there's this thing that people need in this business called INTEGRITY. If I had such a vendetta against TDO, wouldn't I have told him to get the hell out of the fed instead of asking him to stay when he threatened to quit? Well to my knowledge there Lance, the two singles champions in WSW were both heels, so it wouldn't make sense for TDO to be a heel and feuding against them. I dunno if getting title shots is your only definition of a push, but I think that being in three out of four straight main events is a pretty good-sized push, not to mention having him vaulted into the WSW title picture by being an ally with Vien. Yet somehow the guy hasn't been pushed because I have animosity towards him. Quick, somebody point it out to me because I'm a little lost. To my knowledge, the only thing that I have been vocal about against TDO has been that he needs to develop an in-ring edge.

· Rattlesnake - I just simply don't know what to do with the guy yet. He's got great size, but hadn't been making many shows until last month. If you're going to say that he deserves Heavyweight title push even though he only made a show every two or three weeks, then you'd might as well be saying that Slip deserves a Heavyweight title push as well. But you're not, so shut up. I like Rattlesnake, just need to find a program for him. Now that he has the XWF title on him, it could get the ball rolling.

So those were my defenses against Lance's claims, although I didn't get around to the one about Rattlesnake because he interrupted me by saying once again that I play favorites and hold those three back. Clearly, he hadn't been listening to anything I'd been saying. I did mention that there are a few people that I do say that I haven't pushed.

· Nervioso, Sgt. Hardcore, Lt. Gunner - WTF do those guys need pushes for? A fed needs jobbers and that's what they are. Would it be nice to see them win once in a while? Yes. But you have to time it right. Plus, there is the fact that the people who portray them make them secondary characters. Antwon got butt-hurt because Nervioso wasn't on a show. Big fucking deal! You are a tag-team champion! Are you really that conceited enough to say that you deserve TWO characters to be pushed?? Didn't you say a few months ago that you wrestle to entertain the fans? It sounds to me like you wrestle so you can have the spotlight. Why else would you continually barge into my introduction at the beginning of nearly every show, when you have NO purpose in doing so? Added with the fact that people hate wrestling you, you should be lucky enough to have ONE character wrestling right now.

Despite my efforts of supporting my facts, Lance tells me that it's "nice that [I] want to help, but [I] am not WSW." "Oh that's right, because only you are WSW, not all of us," I snapped. He said that I've never contributed to WSW and hadn't put any time, money, or effort into the fed. Time and effort? I run the fuckin website. I WAS re-designing the thing and finding a new web server. But oh yeah, "fuck the internet," I forgot... Well, I talked to people daily about storylines and listening to ideas, sorting them through, and then bringing them up to LANCE and Dave. Does that not count either?? On the WSW forum, Jewdas mentioned that he is "just a small voice in the crowd." FUCK THAT! Yes, it certainly seems that under this new power trip that Lance has going on, no ideas from the "lesser talent" will be heard. But I fuckin' listened and I fuckin' pushed. NOBODY can tell me otherwise. Dues? Money? Psyclown brought up in the forum that Lance was upset that none of us "San Jose guys" had put any money into the fed. Let me make one thing perfectly clear. One of the first things that LANCE said when he became president was that it'd be nice to have a fund for the guys that travel all the way to Newman to wrestle. LANCE said that we'd be reimbursed. So LANCE has contradicted himself for a fourth time by suddenly reversing the idea.

Lance later talked to Dave and said, "Kevin is not a part of the board and never will be." I know I'm not on the board, but damn I sure was treated like it. As I said before, LOTS of people came up with storyline ideas and I listened. Lance came up with match ideas and he asked ME for approval. Zach came to me for ideas on character direction. (Sadly in that case, we're all still struggling with that one.) Finally, the crème de la crème: Lance came to ME and had ME write shows. I knew this shit was going to happen where I wouldn't get any recognition by those who THINK they matter most. The truth is that the non-board members - Oh I'm sorry Lance, I mean the "lesser talent" - and the open-minded board members know what I've done. In reality, THAT's what matters most. My talk with Lance ended on this note. "I know and the 'lesser talent' knows who gave them a fuckin' voice. But oh that's right... I only play favorites and don't push anyone but a select few." Unlike Lance, who seemingly only pushes Antwon, Boogie, & Blaze, I pushed for hmm... let's see... Antwon, Assassin, Blaze, Deathwish, Dynamite Dave, Eddie Bledsoe, Hazard, Slip, Jewdas, Lizard, Sideshow, Lumberjack, Mike Marquez, Q-Ball, Robert Vien, Sven Oxnard, TDO, Terrible Timmy, Toxic, and West Side Tangler, plus Boogieman, Rattlesnake, and Solution to a certain extent though I would've done more if possible. Some did not get pushes because of overriding decisions, but know that I tried. I believe that only leaves out the three luchas and Tony Lewis, whom I just barely met and hadn't had the chance to really see in-depth. Lance said, "Well it doesn't appear that way to me." So I, sarcastically, snapped back, "Oh that's right because I forgot that I was going to have myself win the world title at Die for July" because I only care about myself, right?" The call was dropped and that was it. Incredible how I've never done anything for the fed, despite somehow holding people back? I can't do both at the same time, common logic would prove. So there's contradiction #5.

The bottom line is that I will not be disrespected in this manner. It's one thing to disagree about storylines but it's another thing to turn it into a personal attack on my reputation. I will not be Lance's fuckin scapegoat when people get pissed off at him about storylines that I had nothing to do with. I tried to make the shows flow and I gave everyone a voice. You could be saying right now, "Ooh, talks big when he's got a keyboard in front of him and Lance can't respond." Bullshit. Lance is going to fucking see what I have to say because a copy will be left on the desk after Die for July, although I will wait until after to post this widespread. The focus needs to remain on the show, so nothing will be brought up, because remembers: INTEGRITY. Lance will try to deny everything and probably won't even remember saying it at all, as he tends to flip 180 degrees every phone conversation we have, due to "outside effects." However, I believe that most of you either know, or will know from future events, whose side is truthful... If it wasn't true, then I wouldn't be gone from WSW. Would I?

July 13, 2005

We arrived at Die for July and the first thing found out is that Lance is in the middle of re-writing the entire card... gee what a shocker. Timmy vs. Deathwish is still scrapped. The elimination cruiserweight match has been replaced by a Light Heavyweight battle royal, in which Lance's good buddy Antwon (as Nervioso) being slated to win the title. Andy Fish vs. General Punishment has been scrapped as well, despite Andy leaving work and traveling from Davis the day of to come wrestle, despite Gen. Punishment buying a mask, shirt, and boots to use for the match, and despite that it was a match on the original draft of the card back in April. What is going to be added to the card though is a Rick Wylde vs. West Side Tangler match, despite Ricky quitting WSW, coming back only on major shows, and leaving once his match is done every time. Despite the lack of dedication, Lance, wants this match to be the third or second-main event! Dave and I stated these exact points and then in front of half the wrestlers, Lance has the gall to proclaim, "The Andy Fish match will be put back on the card because Dave's been bitching and whining about it." No, the Andy Fish match was put back on the card because it never should have been removed in the first place. How nice of you to state it that way, considering that your boys themselves bitch when they don't get their way, and Dave is actually concerned for other wrestlers other than your select few. The biggest deal of all of the card switching was that as I'm writing the card down with the winners circled, Lance tells me that I was wrong in circling Boogie & Blaze to win the tag titles because Antwon & Lizard will be retaining instead. WHAT!?! Lockjaw happened to be walking by at this point and said, "I thought that Toxic & Hazard were going over." "Nobody ever decided that," says Lance. "Well I thought that's what we voted on at the meeting last week." "Well I wasn't at the meeting." I came in with, "Lance said the vote didn't count because 'the board' decided that Blaze & Boogie should win, even though now that's suddenly been changed yet again." Lance called Dave and myself into a private meeting and discussed the situation. He goes on about how we should do things for the betterment of the show and that Antwon & Lizard were somehow "always going to win and that's how it's been from Day 1." Bullshit it has. Contradiction #6...What the fuck was the whole deal on the phone over "Blaze & Boogie will win and that's final"?? Has the whole board really made a vote that Antwon & Lizard would retain? I can tell you that half the board, plus at least half of the 'lesser talent' couldn't believe it when they heard that. Not to mention that there were SIX further instances of people asking me why they were going to win since we had voted in favor of Toxic & Hazard.

Soon after, fell Contradiction #7. Despite that I'm not a board member and never will be, and have never done anything significant for WSW, Lance asks me to draft the card. Amazing.

Unlike the initial writing, which was an argumentative essay to shed light, the remainder of this second piece is just a flat out rant on something that I touched on earlier - Antwon's love for stealing the spotlight. The guy wants advice on how to improve, so here's another piece of it - everything is supposed to lead to something else. Except in your matches, especially at Die for July, they don't. The case in point most recently was his use of a blood capsule to emulate internal bleeding and writhing around outside of the ring for the final 7-10 minutes of the match. First off, did it ever occur to you that heels don't do that because it's a situation to call for sympathy from the crowd? Basically, you just did it to draw there attention and make yourself actually seem hurt. Next, you rolled back into the ring and just rolled around in there without purpose. Lastly, Timmy was on the outside with a sliced hand, looking for help, and Boogie was rolling around in agony on the outside with a serious ankle injury. Yet, you're still in the ring rolling around well after the match and people are coming to YOU instead of the ACTUALLY-injured wrestlers. So not only did you try to steal the spotlight for yourself, but you were so full of yourself as to keep acting that way instead of just leaving the ring so that people could check on the authentically hurt. It really makes me sick and I wonder how people let you get away with shit like that. You may be a founding member of WSW, you may have put a lot of time and effort in, so yes, you deserve credit. But other people have busted there asses in the ring a hell of a lot more than you have. Perhaps it'd be nice though if you actually took a break from the limelight and gave others a chance. Maybe then people would start to respect you, instead of criticizing your ignorance.
